Course: Building Inspection Restoration 101 – Water Damage & Mould

This course introduces essential principles of building inspection for moisture intrusion and mould, aligned with IICRC S500, S520, ASTM standards (e.g., F2170 & comply with ASTM F2659 for non-destructive moisture testing in concrete) and Australian guidelines (AS/S500)

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand building assemblies and moisture movement through structures

  • Identify signs of water damage and mould growth in residential and light commercial buildings

  • Use moisture meters, hygrometers, and thermal imaging as per IICRC and ASTM protocols

  • Apply inspection methodology following IICRC S500/S520 standards

  • Conduct ventilation and drainage assessments aligned with AS/NZS 3666 (brief)

  • Document findings using industry-accepted terminology and reporting formats

  • Recognise when to refer to occupational hygienists or engineers
