Ivi Sims is one of Australia’s leading experts in timber and wood floor drying and an IICRC Triple Master Restorer, recognised internationally for her expertise in advanced structural drying and moisture management in buildings.
With over 26 years in the restoration industry and more than 15 years specialising in wood floor recovery and Class 4 structural drying, Ivi has become a trusted educator, consultant, and technical authority for restoration professionals, insurers, and flooring specialists.
Ivi holds multiple advanced certifications from both the IICRC and the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), including:
- Water Loss Specialist (WLS)
- Contents Loss Specialist (CLS)
- Certified Mold Professional (CMP)
- Master Fire & Smoke (MSR)
- Master Water Restorer (MWR)
- Master Textile Cleaner (MTC)
In addition to her restoration credentials, Ivi Sims is a recognised Building Scientist with advanced expertise in hygrothermal performance, indoor environmental quality, and building envelope diagnostics. She has completed extensive training through AIRAH (Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating) in Building Physics and Psychometrics, including advanced studies on airflow, vapour diffusion, and pressure management as they relate to mould and moisture control. Ivi is highly proficient in the interpretation and practical application of the National Construction Code (NCC 2022), Section J and Condensation Management provisions, with a focus on mitigating interstitial condensation, ensuring compliance, and supporting long-term building durability.
Her building science background includes specialised study under Dr. Joseph Lstiburek (Building Science Corporation, USA) and advanced modelling using WUFI hygrothermal software to assess moisture transfer through wall, roof, and timber floor systems in various Australian climate zones. She actively integrates Australian Standards such as AS 1884 (Flooring Installation), AS 1668 (Ventilation in Buildings), and AS 3959 (Construction in Bushfire-Prone Areas) in her consulting and training practice. This deep technical foundation allows Ivi to bridge building design, on-site diagnostics, and restoration frameworks—ensuring that drying, remediation, and moisture management solutions are not only effective but scientifically validated, compliant with Australian regulations, and aligned with international best practice.
Her passion for continual advancement has taken her across the globe, particularly to the United States, where she has trained in the latest drying technologies and presented at industry conferences.

Sitting as a board of director Indoor Air Quality Association since 2024 as a active member since 2008 ivi is passionate about Indoor Air quality.
Ivi actively contributes to the development of international restoration standards. She currently serves on:

IICRC “Senior Carpet Inspectors Course” (committee Member) and has been in the carpet related industry since 1978. John has also been a practicing carpeting inspector since the early 1980’s. This extensive industry experience translates into only the highest quality of instruction, which stems from being able to teach from a field experience frame of reference.
John also teaches from the ” Inspector perspective”, with heavy emphasis on the psychological frame of mind necessary to be a successful Senior Carpet Inspector. Furthermore, John teaches the prospective inspector how to write concise ” to the point” inspections for the carpet mill industry. Each day of the Senior Carpet Inspector Course, all students are required to write an actual carpet inspection report based upon a case study. The very next morning each student’s written report is critiqued and analysed individually, for all students to learn and benefit from.

Chris’s journey as a professional carpet cleaner began in 2005, working with a portable machine equipped with a gas heater. In 2008, he earned his first IICRC certification in carpet cleaning, marking a pivotal moment in his career. The training he received not only advanced his skills but also opened his eyes to the professional standards of the industry. Through extensive travel and continuous learning, he has dedicated himself to honing his expertise and promoting higher standards in carpet care. Chris is an IICRC master cleaning technician, master water restorer, and master fire and smoke restorer.
One aspect Chris is particularly passionate about is the importance of professional carpet cleaning and the use of certified technicians. Clean carpets are integral to a healthy indoor environment, as they can significantly improve indoor air quality when properly maintained. Developing a tailored cleaning regimen that considers the carpet’s fibre type, construction, and usage can enhance its appearance, longevity, and the overall health of a space.

Mark Cornelius
With a passion for learning and sharing knowledge Mark became an IICRC approved instructor in 2007. He was a contract instructor for one of the largest manufacturers of drying equipment in the world for 3 years. Mark then founded EMTA, an IICRC approved school in 2014. He travels internationally including the USA, Canada and Australia teaching hundreds of students each year. Mark authors his own class curriculum/presentations with safety being chapter one.
Uniquely qualified – IICRC certified triple master — Entered the industry in 1982 – 30+ years’ experience — founded Disaster Recovery Industries, Inc.; a full-service restoration firm, with over 30+ employees in 2001. Mark is a former Volunteer NPQ 1 Fire Fighter, EMT Intermediate and NPQ level 1 fire instructor. Mark was one of the first in the world holding the ANSI accredited IICRC MRS (Mold Remediation Specialist) certification and sat on the Beta testing of the exam process. Mark Cornelius has also served on IICRC Technical Advisory Committees (TAC) for Trauma 2018 (TCST), Fire (FSRT) Vice Chair 2017 Odor (OCT). EMTA is one of the 1st schools approved to teach the new IICRC approved Trauma (TCST) and Mark Cornelius is one of the 1st instructors approved to teach the course.
When not teaching Mark can often be found performing projects back home in Metro Atlanta or consulting on projects for various restoration companies. . He also has a Blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoys family time and traveling with Rashelle Cornelius his wife of over 30 years.

Jessika's impact extends beyond her entrepreneurial ventures; she has played pivotal roles in shaping education programs for industry giants like Prochem, Kaiser Permanente, and Marriott.
